Local craft brewers provide 15,000 direct jobs for Canadians, support 6,000 indirect and induced jobs and sustain a further 8,800 jobs in tourism

  • 1,200

There are nearly 1,200 craft breweries across Canada

  • $1.7 billion

Canada’s craft brewers contribute $1.7 billion towards our country’s GDP

The future of craft beer is on the ballot in this election.

We Canadians love our craft beer, and demand for it continues to grow. And that’s a good thing because a growing craft beer sector means a growing Canadian economy.

But an outdated tax system that favours foreign-owned breweries and unfair tariffs on the things used to make the beer we love are putting the future of your favourite craft brewery at risk.

Craft beer taxes in Canada are 3 to 4 times higher than in neighbouring U.S. states.

On top of these high taxes, the current U.S. tariffs will make it even harder to brew great beer at a great price. This means that without excise tax reform and permanently lowering taxes on craft breweries, many of them will be casualties of this trade war.

The next government can fix this by permanently lowering excise taxes. Tell your local candidates to stand up for locally-owned Canadian craft beer.

An election is the time to let your candidates for public office know this matters to you – that you want to ensure local craft beer does not disappear from store shelves.

It is time to decide what kind of craft beer industry we want in Canada.

Help us stand up for Canada. Help us stand up for locally-made craft beer.
